About Fileora
Fileora is an in-browser file converter maintained by an independent developer. It runs conversions directly in your browser tab so your private documents, photos, and media never leave your device.
Why Fileora Exists
Most online file converters ask you to upload your files to their remote servers. Once uploaded, you have no practical way of knowing who can view the files, where they are stored, or how long they remain on third-party disks. That is a serious concern when working with sensitive materials like tax forms, bank statements, medical records, or unpublished photography.
Modern browsers are powerful enough to decode and re-encode complex files without sending data across the internet. Using technologies like WebAssembly, Web Workers, and the HTML5 File API, your phone or laptop can perform these conversions using its own CPU and memory.
We built Fileora so you can convert and manipulate files quickly without giving up ownership or privacy.
How Conversions Work Under the Hood
Native Browser APIs
For common image adjustments, text parsing, and data formats, Fileora relies directly on built-in browser capabilities like Canvas 2D, OffscreenCanvas, TextEncoder, and the Web Audio API. These run instantly without downloading any extra engine binaries.
- Conversions finish in fractions of a second
- Requires no additional software downloads
WebAssembly in Background Workers
For complex conversions like video compression, audio transcoding, office documents, or OCR text extraction, Fileora loads compiled WebAssembly engines. These include FFmpeg, LibreOffice WASM, PDF-lib, and Tesseract. They run inside isolated Web Workers so your browser interface stays responsive.
- Engines load on demand only when you choose a tool
- Cached locally in your browser storage for repeat visits
Clear Fidelity Ratings
File conversion across different software formats often involves trade-offs. Rather than promising identical results for incompatible standards, Fileora rates each conversion path so you know what will be preserved before you download.
Lossless conversion that keeps all data, formatting, and structural details identical.
Visual layout, fonts, and vector paths look clean with only negligible differences in rendering.
Primary text, tables, and images are preserved; complex macros or dynamic fields may be omitted.
Visual layout is adapted to fit the target format when file specifications differ significantly.
Extracts clean textual content while leaving behind complex styling and binary structures.
